Phoenix Light Rail on the Go.

Phoenix is on the move with the Light Rail being the talk of the town. The lines were long and the weather was cold but the trains kept moving along about every 10 minutes or less. After many years and $1.4 billion of tax payers dollars was this really worth the ride? Saturday, December 27th 2008, was the grand opening and most of the valley came out to ride the rails as was evident when on the train being cheek to cheek with your partner and all the handy new friends that were made due to over crowding.

This past weekend I decided to take my adventure on the go and see why for the last few years this city has been turned upside down. I along with my room-mate Blair drove down to 19th Ave/Camelback (free parking) and hopped on the train witch seemingly was simply enough. The crowds were large but determined to make a day of the event I managed to stand in line to catch the train around 11 o'clock in the morning the crowds were manageable at this time in the morning and the volunteers were very helpful. Blair and I were guided down to Applebee's for lunch on Central and Camelback.

Applebee's is a favorite hangout for Blair and I. The food and fun memorabilia on the walls makes it a great lunch time treat.

These items that were found on the wall carried the theme through the day. This Applebee's seemed to be even busier and according to the waitress everyone was there for the same reason to check the rails. Every one was talking about the train even a single dad out with his three kids for an adventurous day. He stated that he was fueling up to head back in to the crowds and on to the train to go back home to Mesa.

The food is always really good. I really enjoy the laid back environment.

The two for twenty deal was the best for us on a budget. Blair ordered the Salad and steak dinner and I ordered the Grilled Lime Chicken dinner. YUM, YUM, YUM.... and it came with the cheese sticks too. We paid our bill and then went on our way. We wondered by some protesters on route back to the train.

Back on track we headed toward the train and waited for the next one which didn't take to long. This time it was alittle more difficult to get on. It was packed and we had to squeeze in to get on. Little to cozy and the uncomfortable closeness of my neighbor make be start random conversations which was hard to get away from. As we headed on to the next stop few people were getting on and off. My fellow trainees stated that most of the people on the train were from Mesa trying to get back home. Kids were being held by the parents or sucked under foot by on goers. Once we got down town a few more people got off which gave us a chance to grab some seats on the upper deck. Now we were able to enjoy the view. I couldn't believe how many main stream stops there were. It was great to see long the way. The Science Center, Hard Rock Cafe, AZ Republic, Ball Field, Mill Ave, Ect were some of the few.

When we started this trip the plan was to go all the way to Mesa but as we were talking to the other passengers and the day was getting later Mill Ave sounded like the best place to get off. Since I have never really walked down it before so after going over the Tempe lake which was beautiful and watching all the pedal pushing boats going around in circles under way we got off at the Mill Ave stop. The shops and food was highly worth the stop and if a few of you out there have not gotten out and about to do this I recommend it for sure. I will let the Pic speak for me here.

Ok, so I guess you figured it out we are back tracking our way home now. I was a long day but my vote is that it was defiantly worth the trip. I will be riding the train again so all of my Phoenix friends should at least try it once. I never thought I would be a hobo riding the rails but it looks like I have gone to the other side with the help of the Light Rail.

Yes, It's true I have arrived. I am beginning my metamorphism of blogging my thoughts, travel, favs and the unique things that make me, me! What should you expect from my blogg... Adventure, excitement, romance, stories, travel and much more. Basically, a movie on paper. I can hear the questions now.... Your life is that exciting? No, my blogg is about putting adventure in your everyday life and making the most of your life... to live in the moment. There will be times I fail or mess up but I am putting my trust in you my fellow blogger/readers/ect. to help me get back on track. I encourage your commits and suggestions....

I love to travel but in this economy I won't be able to travel to far. Where ever I go I will take you with me on my little Red Vespa with a side car for you just make sure you don't step on my Chipoo, Molly Way(pics to come later). Wait and see what I have in store for you. I will rate my experience on my blogg just for you. You can send me your suggestions of where I should go and I will respond.

Writing is my passion and I do it when ever I can. I have stories to tell you... anything from fiction to sci-fi... Comedy to real life. Don't be surprised if you end up on my blogg too.

Molly Way is my side kick and my best friend. She is a character in and of her self. She is well trained but as you know because she is a dog she will be discriminated a against so there will be times I leave her home. I try and get her out and about as much as possible tho.

Movies are something I live for so beware I will be rating my movies of the ones I go to. Who doesn't love movies? Right?

I want to make this the best possible blogg out there so please send suggestions.
