Vegas Ahead and Molly Left Behind for Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving in Vegas 2009, What is more thankful and giving that that. Blair, Randy, Ray and I went to Vegas leaving Molly to fend for herself. It was a Girls weekend out and we were ready for the motors to roll right on in to the place that has fun written all over it. The drive streched for ever it seemed til we hit the Hoover Dam and then it was just a hop skip and a jump away from diving in to the pleasure, adventure and food that Vegas is known for.

Phoenix is only 5 hours away from the bright city which makes this a treat for weekend fun. This is the first time I have been to Vegas and really impressed by all the sight seeing and free things that you can do there. Vegas is really afordable because I am not a big gambler but did play alittle and ended up getting all the money I spent while there back. Can't beat that deal.

Every hotel has a theme and every one is worth seeing. I still didn't see everything I wanted to see while there. I will be going back and highly recommend you do the same.

Vespa Trails

It's been a while since I took my scooter out on the open road because it has been so hot lately. While it isn't pleasant weather just yet it is nice just to go for a ride. Molly and I made our own way this weekend up to Prescott for a much needed get away. There is nothing like feeling the wind through your hair while the sun is beaming down on the shiny red paint of my beloved Vespa. Molly loves the side car and she sits quite comfortable there. Ok, so the wind was not quit in my hair more like going by my helmet but I think you get the basic idea. After all safety first right? Molly loves riding. I don't think I have ever had a dog that loves riding more. There is so much freedom in riding down the road feeling nature as you go and no cares in the world just a place to clear your mind and think about life, love and the pursuit of happiness. I think I was able to catch it on the way to Prescott this week. Happiness that is. I must know. What makes you happy?

Flag Play

More highlights of AZ Center walk downtown Phoenix, AZ. We found to college age girls trying to get cool in the American Flag fountain near the ASU campus. It looked fun.

AZ Center Downtown Phoenix

Tonight a group of us when by light rail to Arizona Center which is like a plaza in the heart of downtown Phoenix, AZ. We took pictures as we went along. Just anything that caught our eye. I find you can find art in anything when you are really looking. I hope your enjoy the pics and share them with your friends. I'm Back From District 9 And Beyond

I'm back even though I know you are thinking from where in the vast universe and what black whole did you crawl out of. I know I have been gone for a while. I want to humbly give my deepest regards to you or whom ever I may have offended by my absents and now my return (pause for laughter here). I do want to extend a humble greeting from the end of the universe and back as your future friends and now my friends are very excited to meet you one day. It is unfortunate that I will not be allowed to share my travels with you at this time. However, be assured that one day I will and as I have promised about this blog it will be every thing you thought it could be and more but for now if you just have to have an excuse lets chalk it up to writers block. Just in case you are wondering or the wrong eyes are reading this. Yes, writers block can be as long as 8 months.

Since I have been back ... you guessed it I went to the movies. One of my most favorite places to be because it gives me a chance to let my imagination run wild. So here it goes my latest review for DISTRICT 9. Are you scared yet? You should be.

District 9 the movie is a "what if" version of aliens landing on earth, getting stuck, and the governments answer as to how to fix the problem with segregation putting the aliens in implorable conditions with military confinement. It shows humans at their worst with greed and prejudice being the main mind set of all the human lead characters. Until the main character who is normally a pencil pushing nerdy son-in-law is promoted to head of operation to transport all the aliens from the slums that they are in to a concentration camp his company is building. His job is to convince all aliens no matter what it takes that moving is the best for them. That is until the clumsy son-in-law messed up and was contaminated by spilling fuel (the only chance the aliens had to escape) on his arm making him the only known human to run highly intelligent weaponry. The lead character sees the light after having to flee for his own life because now he is worth more to his company dead than alive and his only ally is an alien and alien's son that he almost killed a day earlier. Everyone turns against the lead character causing him to find heart but again only for the selfish reason of some day returning back to human form.

The special effects and highly imaginative writing/directing of this movie was extraordinary. If you are a fan of action adventure in blood fest mode I recommend this movie for you. For me the violence and lack of conscious over rode the extremely complex artistry that I believe was the directors vision for the film. The symbolic nature of what is currently happening in today's world with government affairs and the economy was molded into a fantastic tale and personally sat to close to home for me. When I go to the movies I want to be romanced and taken away from the doom and gloom that society has to offer. I thought that this film was inventive and the marketing for this film was extremely effective. The acting was something to be desired but it could have been the way the director decided to angle the film as a documentary that caused the acting to stagnate. I found the characters lacking real human traits that would cause a perfect stranger to take in a hurricane victim like we saw in the Katrina News feeds which left me sad to be a human when leaving the theater.

I give this movie only a 2.5 on the popcorn scale for the imagination and inventive way of sharing what I believe to be their governmental view and for a heck of a good story line. Note to director if you decide to make a second film for this story line could you make it with a little more heart.

Julie & Julia Preview Movie Night

Evening Eventful~ This evening I went to the preview of Julie & Julia the movie about Julia Child and Julie Powell who wrote a Blog called The Julie/Julia Project where she documented her life for 1 year and over 524 recipes following Julia Child's first cookbook "Mastering The Art of French Cooking". Julie Powell is 30 and missing something in her life. She seems to find her self again while challenging herself to this goal and when she completes her goal her dreams of being a published author becomes a reality.
I must say that when I saw the preview ads I expected cute and nice but I didn't expect a lot from this movie but after seeing this movie I must say that "It Delivered". The character of Julie Powell was enchantingly flawed while Merly Streep character was Julie Child's incarnate. You really can't see her the actress only the character. It really seems that she captured her very being when she played this role. The way the story is written and directed causes you to be right in the moment of the highs and lows of every character. Two lives touched but never crossing. I must say that the food in the movie was a character all its own and really stole the show.

I give this give this movie 4.5 popcorn's. It challenged me with intellect and heart. It also inspired me with this blog. This is a must see movie. Then read the books.
