Hollering For Hula's Modern Tiki

Hula's got it right when they opened several months ago near the light rail close to the down town area.  The atmosphere draws you in, the food's taste and texture draw you nearly close to the heavenly and the drinks will send even the most sinister person out of this world and back.  This is a ride for those people that dream of travel and adventure as you can take a trip to any island in the world all by the zest of morsel you choose.

I stumbled across this place one day on a day trip with Blair while taking the Vespa out for a spin and I must say this is a find of a life time.  I must go every so often to get my fix of the Coconut Shrimp Rolls, Jamaican Pulled Pork Dish and Dr Funk (which is truly what the doctor would order after a long hard day at work).  I do change it up every so often but this is their signature dish and I know for this adventurer I am addicted.  My favorite time to come is right around sunset when the sun gets that orange pink hue, the candles are lite, the lights from inside radiate on to the patio and you sit back with your friends and drink in the sweet relaxing $5 drinks and appetizers.  You can almost imagine yourself on a beach somewhere sipping your umbrella drinks and getting ready for a bonfire party except there are no waves or sand unless you consider the one you see on the overhead projector that plays movies in the bar with island themes.  Hula's is modern, contemporary and urban bistro that is comfortable enough to hang out with friends and hip enough for that first impression date night with a special someone. There is a casual elegant feel to this place and slightly different from any I have been too.  When you walk in to the restaurant to look around you feel instantly at ease and when you shake the hand of the first person you meet don't be surprised if it is the owner himself "Dana" who you will feel you know right from the start because Dana and his wife's style are reflected in every detail.  Best of all the pricing is comparable to the Applebee's down the street.

Look for the big blue roof across from the Catholic Church on Central close to Camelback.  FYI for those dog lovers out there, they are also dog friendly so this is one way Molly Way can add spice to her day.  You must keep them out side on the patio which is where I prefer to be anyway and they have water bowls for your best friend.  I am wondering if we can convince Dana to add a couple of gourmet dogie dishes to really make this your best friends BOW WOW.

This is Roe On The Go signing out.  XOXO!
